Is this true??????? I find it hard to believe that we can't test MS Security Essentials!!! The problem was solved with some effort. I ran the sfx check and it said it fixed something. I then tried to enter the command given in ref 2 but nothing happened. I then tried to open the cbs.

So, I copied the cbs. I searched for " [SR] Cannot repair member file" but got no results. I then searched for "user It said that it had repaired it. So, I rebooted and ran MSEsetup again and it went through this time. I was able to install it and update it. Yes, I activated it last September a couple of days after installation.

I have had no problems with updates, except for this one. My system info says it is activated. When I boot up, on rare occasions it says that Windows isn't genuine, but if I click through the menus and get to the wallpaper, all is right again.

Fred B in OH. I am not running any other security software other than MS SE. They cannot help me with this problem. The fact that I have a legitimate copy of Windows has been verified. MS needs to determine what they have changed in this software for the most current release that causes this problem and correct it. MS SE ran fine prior to this update. Please help.
