Remote desktop into windows 8
Privacy policy. Applies to: Windows Server , Windows 10, Windows 8. When you allow remote connections to your PC, you can use another device to connect to your PC and have access to all of your apps, files, and network resources as if you were sitting at your desk. You can't connect to computers running a Home edition like Windows 10 Home. To connect to a remote PC, that computer must be turned on, it must have a network connection, Remote Desktop must be enabled, you must have network access to the remote computer this could be through the Internet , and you must have permission to connect.
For permission to connect, you must be on the list of users. Before you start a connection, it's a good idea to look up the name of the computer you're connecting to and to make sure Remote Desktop connections are allowed through its firewall. The simplest way to allow access to your PC from a remote device is using the Remote Desktop options under Settings.
I also tested on Windows 8 and Server with the same results. It seems to authenticate, but I end up with a gray blank screen. On the console of the VM, it shows me being logged in on the thin client. Does anyone have any solution for getting this to work? Is there a way to update the thin client RD client or to somehow change the security settings of the Windows 8. I've tried a few things already, disabling UDP, etc.
I would like to avoid buying new thin clients if possible. For windows 8 working with older systems you may need to change a few services around a little bit Open the Remote Desktop app on your other computer.
If you don't have this app, you can download it for free from the Windows Store. Type the name of the computer you're connecting to. Make sure to enter in the complete full name you found earlier. Click Connect. Control the remote computer from within the Remote Desktop app. Once you're connected, you'll see the remote computer's desktop in the Remote Desktop window. You can control the remote computer just like your own local computer.
Method 2. Install Chrome on the computer you want to access. If you can't use the Windows Remote Desktop app because of incompatible versions, you can use Chrome Remote Desktop instead. This requires Google Chrome be installed on both computers. You can install Chrome from google. Click the Download button and follow the prompts to install it. Open Chrome on the computer you want to access.
You'll find it on your desktop after installing it. Visit the Chrome Web Store. Go to chrome. Search for remote desktop. You'll see this result in the Apps section of the search results. Click Add app in the window that appears. This will display your Chrome apps. Click Chrome Remote Desktop.
Click Get Started. Click Enable remote connections. Click Yes. This will install the remote service. Sign in with your Google account. Make sure you have Windows 11 Pro. To check this, select Start , and open Settings. Then, under System , select About , and under Windows specifications , look for Edition. When you're ready, select Start , and open Settings.
Select the remote PC name that you added, and then wait for the connection to complete. Make sure you have Windows 10 Pro. You'll need this later. Enable Remote Desktop.
