Stranger in my bedby julie keaton free ebook

To secure his clan's future he needs an English wife. Mary Stanford, daughter of the Earl of Warwickshire, will suit perfectly. He's never met her, but what matter? She'll grace his bed eventually, and once she bears his child he need see her no more. Anne Copper looks just like her noble half-sister, but she was born illegitimate, and can never forget it. The best she can hope for is to stay a serving girl in her own father's house.

But when Lady Mary finds herself betrothed to a Scot, it seems there's a use for Anne after all. The woman who arrives in Alcaon is not what Brodick expects, and the passion that grows between them promises far more than a marriage of convenience. When fate draws two together, it may take more than a noblewoman's plot to part them. Scorching love scenes threaten to set the sheets aflame. A classic tale of a noble lady whose life is upended when her despised husband—believed lost at sea—returns, a remarkably altered, more passionate and loving man…if he is, indeed, who he claims to be.

You come home after a long day at work, excited to have dinner with your beautiful wife. But when you walk through the door, you quickly realize that she's not there. In the kitchen, there is a pot on the stove, and vegetables on the counter, abandoned. Her cellphone and her purse are still in the house, in the bedroom, exactly where she keeps them.

It looks like she's left in a blind panic. You fear the worst, so you call her friends to see if they know where she is. Then you call the police. The police tell you that your wife's been in an accident. They found her in the worst part of town, after she lost control of the car while speeding through the streets. But why would she go to that neighbourhood? And why was she driving so fast? Was she running toward something? Or away from something? The police think your wife was up to no good.

You refuse to believe it, at first. Then, as the stories and facts don't line up, and your wife can't remember what happened that evening, you start to wonder. You've been married for two years and you thought you knew her better than anyone else in the world. Score: 5. The last thing he expects is to find a stark-naked woman already there…. Josie Marchpane wasn't anticipating company either. Connor may be six feet four inches of pure muscle and boast a disturbingly sexy smile, but a fortnight in the South of France is the one thing standing between Josie and her sanity—and she's not about to give it up without a fight!

This comment was deleted. This is a great tale of longing and despair. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Lenor a. True, it is Poe-ish, from the Raven. Loved this short story of a love lost but never forgotten.

The blissful bubbles of aftermath burst as the stranger is tensed and evades her. He cares for her a lot, this much is clear and wants her even more. But how can he approach? Oh, it was some mess! So he returns again. She burns it as she had the rest of the pages, feeling forlorn. There were a few nice scenes between Blackthorne and Melantha which I really liked.

While she was running to the stables, Blackthorne tells her to be sensible. Soon on their ride, she realizes she made a mistake. She was at first, nice and accommodating thinking the attractive Knightly must be her lover. And, Blackthorne comes to her rescue. He informs her that Knightly is a devious scoundrel who loves to braggart on about his conquests. Anyway, soon they all leave. Oh, the stranger took precautions but it seems like the first time has gotten her.

Her grandmother suddenly changes her color and I was kinda stunned. The old battle axe, it seems like does care for her granddaughter after all. She plans to go back to Italy where they stayed before coming back to England and live as a widow because her lover, it seems has truly abandoned her. Then, something happens Also, wish the story stretched on a bit longer because I was truly enjoying it. Suffice to say, I was never bored at all, even knowing there are plot holes.

The characters were very likable. Not until much later. It was very odd. But, she did her own reasoning, like almost all of them were as big and tall like the stranger and being new to a male body, she got confused. It might also be the fact that the good sex addled her brain! Lmaooo But, let me tell you that I was glad about the end result; who he turned out to be and the way he groveled. I felt that these two did belong with each-other. Anyhoo, the long and short of it, even with all the flaws and a few typos, I wanted it to continue; so I give this book a perfect 4.

Aug 19, Kelly rated it really liked it Shelves: read-in , historical. I'm going to be honest here and admit that I picked up this book for the cover. Well, not entirely for the cover, but it did help sway me into buying it. Now, if I didn't own a Kindle I don't think I could have comfortably held this book in public while reading it. The cover reminds me of those really overwrought covers from romance novels in the 80's and 90's. The ones where the heroine is losing a minimum of one article of clothing and the man looks like he wants to ravish her on the spot.

Anyw I'm going to be honest here and admit that I picked up this book for the cover. Part of what drew me into buying another historical when my heart so obviously lies with shapeshifters and aliens and badass badasses in space was the excerpt I read. It was maybe half of the first chapter and I seriously sat there afterward and I was like, "Hmm, that was good.

I want to read more. Basically, resigned spinster Melantha works through her sexual frustration by writing down all her fantasies in a hidden diary. When the diary is stolen by a man searching for documents to have his ancestral home returned to him and who is bent on revenge against her brother, Melantha is forced to becoming his initially unwilling slave in the bedroom.

The twist? The man visits her bedroom in the dark of night and Mel has no idea which of her brother's guests he might be. The author weaves interest in Mel from two of the men visiting throughout the story and there were a couple of times when I wondered if my guess as to who her midnight lover could actually be was off base. I liked the build up and the tension and I really liked that her family stepped in and supported her when she thinks everything is over.

I'd have to say that I'd definitely read another book by this author. Sept back on my TBR this goes. There seems to be an alternative version which is more bland. Feb 07, Pamela AllHoney rated it it was ok Shelves: the-habanero-shelf , highwaymen-pickpockets-thieves , hr-georgian-regency. Interesting premise and had much potential but it didn't carry through for me. Not enough plot and development for my taste. Lack of consent This book seemed like one from the 80s, back when women were only allowed to like sex if it was forced on them so there w a s a lot of rape scenarios that somehow later converted to true love.

The hero is an angry guy taking out this fury on a young woman who was not guilty of anything by subjecting her to some of her own fantasies as described in her secret journal. The author fails to understand that a person con have all kinds of erotic fantasies that would be terrifying in real life. And after this deplorable treatment the hero leaves without ever identifying himself to the heroine. This being a romance, I' m not being a spoiler in saying that in the end they're together, basically without any of the absolutely required groveling and begging for forgiveness required.

Don't read it! Sep 30, Jess rated it it was ok. Oh boy, talk about your purple prose! It's not TOO heavy-handed and the book has some decent thrills, but would really benefit from an editor. That aside, this book is a perfect example of the "romance" novel that normalizes rape and stalking as romance. Though the hero isn't all that bad and ultimately cops to his wrongdoings in the end, he still breaks into a woman's room, ties her up while she's sleeping, and rapes her after he's been drinking and she's been taking laudanum.

A healthy relatio Oh boy, talk about your purple prose! A healthy relationship does not begin this way and cannot be maintained. The fact that the heroine has absolutely no issue with losing her virginity hymen myth present this way is deeply troubling. At the very least, the conversation that happens when they finally confront each other covers all the awful truths each of them was ignoring to maintain their tryst. I can't honestly say I hated this book or that it pissed me off while I was reading, because it's committing no greater sins than any that have come before.

Still, I MUST say, don't we deserve stories that don't normalize secrecy, stalking, "forced seductions" and that rape is a product of unquenchable passion and not power and vulnerability? Jan 08, Ana rated it it was ok. Sorry if I'm not excited by the prospect of having a man entering my room, restrain me in my bed and proceed to molest me while asking me questions about some papers.

If that is supposed to make me all flustered and eager to read this book And I cannot honestly think of an excuse good enough for that sort of behavior. If they had know each other before or something I could, maybe, understand or at least not be so disgusted by that scene but alas he is a stranger and I do not find Sorry if I'm not excited by the prospect of having a man entering my room, restrain me in my bed and proceed to molest me while asking me questions about some papers.

I could, maybe, understand or at least not be so disgusted by that scene but alas he is a stranger and I do not find any of this arousing. I actually find the whole thing incredibly nauseating. To think I got this book after finding some quotes that looked really sweet and romantic Sep 25, Bekah rated it really liked it Shelves: ebooks-read-own , reads. I was surprised at how much I liked this book. I had sort of flipped through it after purchasing it and thought There was a little bit of who is it for a short moment even when I thought I was sure who it was, but thankfully I did question myself for a moment.

It was a nice quick read The one thing that did bot I was surprised at how much I liked this book. The one thing that did bother me in this book is that every time the author used 'quite' it was spelled 'quiet'!
